Experiences on Sexual Health

Part of a good sexual relationship is trust. But despite all the trust in the world, no one can be totally sure of what is going on in their body, particularly if they have some sexual history. Jane and I started this relationship much less than virgins and we recognized that we may have exposed ourselves to STI's in the course of our lifetimes. We had a mature talk last week about our histories, our risk and our plans. We decided to go get checked and give ourselves some peace of mind and freedom of sexual expression.

Both of us had been recently screened for HIV (I from blood donation and her I believe at a pap test) so we were less concerned about that as we were concerned with the other big ones.

We swung in to our local Planned Parenthood (there are also STD health clinics and more, look in the phone book) and took a quick pee (which I had to do anyways) and went on our way. Didn't cost a thing (thank you Canada) and took less than half an hour. And in a week, we'll both be able to rest assured that we're healthy or we'll be in a position to easily treat any problems that may come up.

Simple, and refreshing!
